My Grandfather came to the US from the Philippines because he honestly believed the streets of America were paved with gold. San Francisco was a rude awakening for him!
This Filipino grandfather taught me to work hard and live simply. My American father, though, taught me at a very young age to love what Jesus referred to as "the least of these"... and my heart has bled ever since.
I believe we ALL need to do what we can to help others, through giving, through using our time and talents for good, and through loving our neighbors as ourselves. These simple truths motivate me daily to give as much as I can to: help eliminate extreme poverty, fight against preventable disease and rally for justice for the oppressed. As a sideline, I love to help my pastor friends in the Philippines do the work they've been called to do, on the little finances they have. HopeGift is the means to that end.
